Kevin Wendle
Joined the amfAR board
in September 1998. Mr. Wendle has sponsored or co-sponsored a number of amfAR
special events, including a 1999 reception to recognize amfAR’s Los Angeles–based
grantees, Cinema Against AIDS Cannes 2000,
and Cinema Against AIDS Park City 2001.
He served as event co-chair for Cinema
Against AIDS Cannes 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. Mr. Wendle has been a major force in launching new television
and Internet ventures. He is chairman of K2 Media, which funds and incubates start-up
companies in and around social and mobile media. He was co-founder and an
officer of three online media companies: CNET, IFILM, and E! Online. He was
also one of six founders of the FOX television network. As executive vice
president for programming at FOX, he led the development of Married… with Children, The Simpsons, and Beverly Hills 90210. As president of Quincy Jones Entertainment, he
developed and was executive producer of Fresh
Prince of Bel Air for NBC. Since setting up his own production company in
1990, he has had major involvement with online programming. Red Herring magazine named him among the
“Top Ten Entrepreneurs of 2000” and he has been one of Entertainment Weekly’s “101 Most Powerful People in Entertainment.”
