amfAR SUPPORTER SINCE 1986
Bloomingdale’s has been a strong
corporate supporter of amfAR since its Bloomingdale’s by Mail campaign in
1986. The store has also supported several amfAR special events over the
years.
Bloomingdale’s has sold a number of
special gift items to benefit amfAR both in stores and online, including the
New York City Musical Snow Globe, the Skyline Umbrella, the Times Square
Countdown ornament, and the Kurt Adler-designed angel ornament.
Between 2009 and 2011, amfAR has
been the benefactor of Bloomingdale’s annual Fashionable Fundraiser, a national
store event.

Anne Keating, Senior Vice President,
Public Relations and Corporate Philanthropy:
"In April 1986, Bloomingdale's
was there when the fight started. A year later we were the first
department store in the country to raise money for AIDS research and treatment,
working with Mathilde Krim, founding chair of amfAR. And 24 years later
we continue to support the organization to fund research and care for those
afflicted with HIV and AIDS through our in-store events, corporate giving, and
Foundation grants. Bloomingdale's is proud of our long-standing
partnership with amfAR to help eradicate this global epidemic."
