Prevention
amfAR's Prevention Science program seeks to identify methods that can measurably reduce HIV transmission, particularly among those at very high risk of HIV infection, and establish prevention models that can be replicated elsewhere. With as many as half of all new HIV infections in this country related directly or indirectly to sharing HIV-contaminated syringes, the Foundation also administers the distribution of harm reduction supplies to the 13 New York State-authorized syringe exchange programs.
