amfAR's Research Program

amfAR's Research program plays a vital role in AIDS research, identifying critical gaps in our knowledge of HIV and AIDS, and supporting groundbreaking studies that often lack the preliminary data required by more traditional funders. The Research program focuses on efforts to prevent HIV infection in those who are vulnerable, and to improve treatment, with the ultimate goal of eradicating the virus for people living with HIV infection.

amfAR Consortium To Speed Search for HIV AIDS Cure

Placing the search for a cure for HIV/AIDS firmly at the center of its research efforts, amfAR has launched the Research Consortium on HIV Eradication (ARCHE), a new grant program supporting collaborative teams of biomedical researchers exploring the barriers to and potential for eradicating HIV infection. With first-round funding of more than $1 million, ARCHE will support investigations in three broad research areas that are widely considered central to HIV eradication: a sterilizing cure, a functional cure, and the characterization of viral reservoirs.
