Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR
In 2010, Kiehl’s introduced the Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR, an annual motorcycle ride through major U.S. cities that includes multiple high-profile events at Kiehl’s stores along the way to raise consumer and media awareness about amfAR and the fight against AIDS. Funds raised through the LifeRide have contributed to the more than $1.2 million Kiehl’s has donated to amfAR over the years.
“I’m humbled that as a company, we not only raise funds for amfAR, but we get personally involved with the fight against HIV/AIDS,” said Chris Salgardo, Kiehl’s president, who leads the brigade of celebrity motorcycle enthusiasts each year, along with amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost. Kiehl’s has been a supporter of amfAR since 1996, and in 2007, Salgardo and Kiehl’s were honored with amfAR’s Award of Courage. Salgardo was also honored with amfAR's Leadership Award at the TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art gala in Dallas in 2013.
The LifeRide was inspired by Kiehl’s history with motorcycles and the company’s spirit of adventure and philanthropic commitment. Each year, the riders travel a different route. The 2015 LifeRide, August 3–15, was a 12-day, 2200-mile trek from Denver to San Diego, with stops in Utah and Nevada.
