Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR 2016
Kiehl’s USA President Chris Salgardo and amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost kicked off the seventh annual Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR in New York City on Wednesday, August 3, ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. They then led a convoy of riders to the official start of the ride at the Incarnation Children’s Center, New York City’s only skilled nursing facility providing specialized care for youth living with HIV/AIDS, unveiling an original installation with contemporary artist José Parlá and RxArt.
The 11-day, 1,100-mile motorcycle charity ride made 10 stops at Kiehl’s stores along a multi-state route in the Northeast, finishing in Philadelphia on Saturday, August 13. At each stop, the public was on hand to meet the riders, learn more about amfAR, and contribute to the organization. Kiehl’s donated $150,000 to amfAR over the course of the ride.
This year’s riders included Anthony Carrino, Ben Cohen, Gilles Marini, Grant Reynolds, Ian Bohen, JR Bourne, Jay Ellis, Nina Senicar, Josh Mario John, Luke Wessman, Kurt Yaeger, Teddy Sears, Milissa Sears, Scott Patterson, and Michiel Huisman.

In 2010, Kiehl’s launched LifeRide to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and generate funds for amfAR. With the conclusion of this year’s ride, Kiehl’s has raised a total of $1.6 million for amfAR, funding eight cure-related research projects.
Funds raised from this year’s LifeRide will go toward a cure-focused research project led by Satish Pillai, Ph.D., associate investigator at the Blood Systems Research Institute and associate professor of Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Pillai is on the leadership team of the San Francisco-based amfAR Institute for HIV Cure Research, the cornerstone of amfAR’s $100 million cure research investment strategy.
