amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research
From 2007 through 2014, amfAR provided small grants to nearly 200 grassroots organizations in over 80 low- and middle-income countries through the GMT Initiative Community Awards Program. The grants helped the organizations improve and expand the HIV services they provide for gay men, other men who have sex with men, and transgender individuals (collectively, GMT).
The organizations profiled here are all current or former grantees of amfAR’s GMT Initiative and reflect the Initiative’s global reach. Their stories illustrate the vital role of community-based grassroots efforts in responding to the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS among GMT.
