Eric Muscatell has more than 20 years experience in the nonprofit sector in
program implementation, fundraising and donor stewardship. As Vice President of
Development at amfAR, Eric oversees the fundraising program, which includes
major, individual and institutional giving as well as direct mail,
e-philanthropy, prospect research and cultivation, and a robust special events
program that raises tens of millions of dollars annually through benefit events
in the U.S. and abroad.
Before beginning his tenure with amfAR, Eric served as Manager at the Walt
Whitman Center, a think tank in the political science department at Rutgers
University, Deputy Director of Development at the Legal Aid Society, Director
of Major Gifts at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and Director of Development at
the Guttmacher Institute.
Since joining amfAR as Director of Philanthropy in 2007, Eric has been
raising money for all of the Foundation’s programs, including cure-focused
biomedical HIV/AIDS research and lifesaving LGBT human rights and public policy
initiatives on the front lines of the epidemic.
