Kiehl’s Since 1851 brought the sixth annual LifeRide for amfAR to a close in San Diego, August 15.

Starting in Denver, Kiehl’s President Chris Salgardo and amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost led a group of celebrity motorcycle enthusiasts across the Rockies and through the desert, before motoring west to the Pacific and Southern California. Kiehl’s hosted events at 10 of its retail stores along the route and raised a total of $250,000 to support AIDS research over the course of the 12-day, 2200-mile charity ride.

Celebrity LifeRiders included Jay Ellis, Gilles Marini, Vanessa Marcil, Teddy and Melissa Sears, Conrad Leach, Chris Kael, Grant Reynolds, Kristy Swanson, Timothy White, Tricia Helfer, and Ben Cohen.

This year, Kiehl’s added a social fundraising component to the ride. People were encouraged to donate to amfAR through a CrowdRise page dedicated to LifeRide. And those who gave were entered into a raffle for a chance to attend amfAR’s Inspiration Gala Los Angeles in October, including round-trip tickets to Los Angeles courtesy of Delta Air Lines, and complimentary Kiehl’s products. The CrowdRise campaign raised $48,000. A group of committed amfAR supporters, including Barry Skovgaard, Michael Dittbenner, and John Bradfield, generously agreed to match this amount dollar for dollar.

To date, Kiehl’s has donated more than $1.2 million to amfAR.
