Annette Sohn, M.D., Ph.D.

Vice President and Director, TREAT Asia

Dr. Annette Sohn joined amfAR’s staff as vice president and director of TREAT Asia in September 2008. She leads a staff of 15 at amfAR’s office in Bangkok, Thailand.

A pediatrician and researcher with extensive experience in the Asia region, Dr. Sohn directs a program integrating HIV, co-infection, and co-morbidity research among children, adolescents, and adults, with related activities around community advocacy and training.

She chairs the Executive Committee of the US NIH’s IeDEA global cohort consortium (International Epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS), and is a member of the WHO’s Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee on HIV and Viral Hepatitis, and co-Chairs the Global Validation Advisory Committee on Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV, Congenital Syphilis, and Hepatitis B. She is on the Program Committee of the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) and the Organizing Committee of the Asia Pacific AIDS and Co-infections Conference (APACC), and is a co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the International AIDS Society.

She retains an appointment as an associate clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco.
