Cicely S. Wootan

Chief Development Officer

Cicely Wootan joined amfAR with three decades of experience in development with world-renowned nonprofit and for-profit brands. As Chief Development Officer, Wootan oversees amfAR’s philanthropy and special events teams, coordinating fundraising including amfAR’s galas, donor relations, and corporate and foundation partnerships. Wootan manages planning and execution of amfAR’s special events which raise tens of millions of dollars annually, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Prior to her tenure at amfAR, Wootan served as Vice President for Global Partnerships at Room to Read. There, she consistently raised revenue by double digits, and also secured the organization its first multimillion dollar legacy gift.

Wootan has also held various roles at the American Heart Association, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, New York Botanical Garden, and more. She significantly expanded revenue and contributing donors in each of these positions. Wootan has also volunteered with Gay Men’s Health Crisis, Good Shepherd Services, and the Human Rights Campaign.

A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Wootan holds a Master of Arts Management, as well as degrees from Fordham University and SUNY Ulster.
