Kyle Clifford is the Chief Executive Officer of amfAR, bringing more than three decades of experience across the private and nonprofit sectors in senior leadership, business development, fundraising, and strategic donor engagement. He is the organization’s first CEO openly living with HIV.
In this leadership role, Mr. Clifford directs amfAR’s global strategy to accelerate scientific discovery and advance amfAR’s mission to end the AIDS epidemic through innovative research, public policy advocacy, and philanthropic partnerships.
Mr. Clifford first joined amfAR in 2020 as Chief Development Officer, where he oversaw fundraising strategy, including individual and institutional giving, corporate partnerships, direct response, e-philanthropy, workplace giving, prospect development, and a robust special events portfolio. amfAR raises tens of millions of dollars annually from its domestic and international galas, including new events Mr. Clifford instituted in Palm Beach, London, and Las Vegas since joining the organization.
Before joining amfAR, Mr. Clifford served as Vice President of Development at The Ireland Funds, a global philanthropic network that has raised more than $650 million to support over 3,200 organizations in Ireland and around the world. During his tenure, he led the growth of major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and high-impact events.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Clifford held senior roles at City Harvest in New York City, including Director of Corporate Partnerships and Development and Senior Manager of Food Sourcing. City Harvest is the world’s first food rescue organization and helps feed more than 1.5 million New Yorkers who are struggling with food insecurity.
A graduate of the University of Limerick in Ireland with a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and Spanish, Mr. Clifford has also held senior business development positions in both Spain and Ireland.
