Adrien Brody

Adrien Brody is a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Actor. In 2003, he received both the Oscar and the César Award for his portrayal of Holocaust survivor Władysław Szpilman in The Pianist, becoming the youngest actor ever to win the Academy Award in that category.

Earlier this year, Brody earned the Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award for Best Actor for his performance as László Toth in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist. He also portrayed playwright Arthur Miller opposite Ana de Armas in the 2022 film Blonde, a fictionalized biopic of Marilyn Monroe, the subject of this work.

In the fall of 2024, Brody made his London stage debut, playing death-row inmate Nick Yarris in Lindsey Ferrentino’s The Fear of 13. His performance earned him a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor.

Brody also heads the production company Fable House Films, which produced and financed the 2022 feature Clean. In addition to starring in the film, he co-wrote the script and score.

Alongside his cinematic work, Brody is an accomplished painter and visual artist. His first collection, Hotdogs, Hamburgers and Handguns, debuted at Art Basel in 2015, followed by Hooked, which premiered during New York Art Week the following year. This artwork is from a new series of works that Brody has been working on for years in his studio. This image from the new series marks the first new painted work to be exhibited publicly since Brody’s 2016 Hooked series.

Born and raised in New York City, Brody studied drama at LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. His mother, renowned photographer Sylvia Plachy, has work held in the permanent collection of MoMA and is currently exhibiting at the Robert Capa Foundation in Budapest.

His original artworks have raised over $2 million for global charities including amfAR, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and UNICEF. While Brody has long been a supporter of amfAR, this is a rare opportunity to purchase one of his artworks at auction and coincides with his historic second Academy Award.
