Raised in Arizona, Sissòn (b. 1986, Los Angeles, CA) is a self-taught artist who at the age of seven began their creative curriculum under the tutelage of their mother, Kimberlin. Following her sudden passing in 2006, Sissòn—seduced by thug ambitions, hard-living and street life—abandoned their practice for almost a decade before returning in 2015 with their first solo show, Ivory Gold Slaves, at Werkartz, Los Angeles. They’ve since independently produced and self-funded another six solo shows, have been featured in numerous publications, and were recruited by the Smithsonian Institution for Men of Change, a traveling exhibition touring twenty-three museums throughout the United States.
