Adult HIV Research

TREAT Asia’s network of researchers study multiple aspects of HIV treatment of adults living with HIV in the region. This includes HIV clinical outcomes, antiretroviral treatment outcomes, and co-infections and co-morbidities.

TREAT Asia’s adult network includes 21 clinical sites in 12 countries that contribute to the TREAT Asia HIV Observational Database (TAHOD), which contains data from more than 68,000 patients. Using these data, network researchers answer important questions about HIV treatment, including how to optimize treatment regimens and how co-infections like hepatitis B and tuberculosis impact health outcomes. Our studies improve our understanding of the relationship of HIV to non-communicable diseases, such as mental health conditions and others associated with aging, like heart disease and cancer.

Adapting our research to emerging clinical and implementation priorities, the TREAT Asia network is contributing to the regional evidence base on HIV and associated co-morbidities, in order to better inform regional policy, programs, and service delivery.
