Research

TREAT Asia and its network of researchers, HIV clinics, and other partner institutions are working to understand optimal approaches to treating HIV and common co-infections and co-morbid conditions among adults, children, and adolescents living with and at risk for HIV in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2006, the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) selected amfAR to lead the Asia-Pacific component of its global HIV database consortium known as the International epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA). This work has continued since that time, allowing the TREAT Asia network to expand its research portfolio and contribute to improved care and better quality of life for people living with HIV in the region.

Adult HIV Research

TREAT Asia’s network of researchers study multiple aspects of HIV treatment of adults living with HIV in the region. This includes HIV clinical outcomes, antiretroviral treatment outcomes, co-infections and co-morbidities.

Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Research

TREAT Asia network research studies children and adolescents who have grown up living with HIV as well as young adults who have acquired HIV later in their lives. Research priorities include HIV clinical and treatment outcomes, co-infections, co-morbidities, the transition from pediatric to adult HIV care, and prevention.

TREAT Asia Community Advisory Group

Members provide guidance to TREAT Asia’s research activities across the Asia-Pacific region.
